Police arraign man for biting off neighbour’s ear in Ekiti

The Police have arraigned a A 35-year-old man, Shina Adekunle before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for biting off part of the ear of his neighbour.

Shina Adekunle, is accussed of biting off the victim, Emmanuel Oluwashina ear while attempting to settle a dispute between Oluwashina and his wife at the Oke Age area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The police prosecutor, Johnson Okunade, told the court that the offence, which he described as an assault, contravened Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

Adekunle, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His counsel, Mr Emmanuel Sumonu, urged the court to grant the suspect bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adegboye adjourned further hearing in the case till December 10, 2018.
